Understanding The Allegory of Good and Bad Government

Detail Image of Angel holding proclamation and peasants working the fields, noblemen riding on the outskirts of  Siena c.1337

The Allegory of Good and Bad Government merges elements of secular life with references to the significance of religion as part of daily life of the people. It is a painted fresco  that covers three of four walls of the room. Half the population of Sienna was dead less then 10 years after this painting was created during the great plague. Ambrogio Lorenzetti and his brother Pietro were some of first victims.
