One of the Greatest Painters Of All Time

Austrian  Art Nouveau Symbolist Painter and Cofounder of the Vienna Secession group

Stylistically influenced by the following art periods -  Hans Makart,  Egyptian, Japanese Woodblock Prints, Assyrian, Classical Greek, and Byzantine

Cause of death: Influenza,  during the Influenza Pandemic of 1918.  He is buried in Vienna  at the Hietzing Friedhof

Gustav Klimt Biography and Interesting Facts
Gustav Klimt was born in Baumgarten, Austria. He was the second of seven children. Gustav's father was a failed gold engraver and could barley keep bread and soup on the Klimt family table


Young Gustav attended the famous Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Applied Arts) in Vienna, Austria, when he just 14 years of age

In 1888, Gustav Klimt received the "Golden Order of Merit"


Gustav Awarded Emperor's Prize in recognition of Auditorium of the Burgtheater.

Gustav Klimt's erotic and sensual paintings were constantly criticized by jealous artists and sad sack art critics.

In 1908 Klimt painted "The Kiss", an erotic and ethereal observation of human sexuality. This is his most famous painting .
